Kinoko no Yama Model

This was a school project. The assignment was to create a 3D model of your favorite snack. I chose the Kinoko no Yama snack because of its bright colors and complex but flat background. This introduced me to paper mache, which was very fun. Connecting with my peers and creating at the same time was very memorable. Although this project had many long and tedious steps. Our first step after finishing the paper mache model was to ghesso the entire model so I'd have a clean and white surface to paint on. Then we had to draw out our design onto a sheet of paper that was the exact size of our model. We then used that paper to trace our design onto our model. After all those steps we began using acrylic to paint.

The challenge for this piece was painting the texturing of the box, the mushrooms, and the lettering. The texturing was a tad bit difficult because of the diffusion of colors, there's a certain way I wanted it to look and it took a while for me to perfect how I wanted the hills, mountains, and sky to look. In addition to that, the mushrooms were difficult because of the sheer amount of detail and blending I had to do for each mushroom. Again, I wanted to achieve that glossy smooth effect with acrylic paint so it could look as close to the mushroom as realistically possible. The lettering was not as hard as the mushrooms but it was still one of the major components I had to work on.
