Eye of Terror
about.
This piece was an assignment directed to me by my art teacher. This was a study and I used a reference picture. To further practice my foundational skills of proportions and shading, we decided on more graphite. I'm pretty happy with the result of this piece as it did not take me an unreasonable amount of time to finish. I believe capturing the unsettling terror in their eyes was a main priority.
challenge.
The challenge for this piece especially was the iris. There's so much detail in ones eyes and I wanted to try my best to exactly replicate each detail or at least create an illusion of detail. The eyelashes were also something I struggled on because of my fear of messing up and the placement of the eyelashes were not uniform but completely random. Another difficult part of the process was figuring out the contract between the darkest and lightest parks of the eye. Sometimes I underestimate the areas darkness because it's portrayed as "white" but in reality the color is a darker shade of gray.
